Analyzing File and Wait Statistics (DBA)

Return to Session Listings

Presenter: Andrew J. Kelly

Session Details

The ability to collect and analyze File & Wait statistics in terms of performance directly from within SQL Server is often underutilized. The information that can be gleaned from these statistics has increased dramatically with each new release of SQL Server, and SQL Server 2008 has added a bunch more wait types, including the new Preemptive ones. We'll cover each of the most common waits and discuss what you need to do to reduce them. Stop wondering what is causing the bottlenecks in your system, and start addressing them.
